Samantha admits to being a Facebook addict and having a weakness for chocolate cake. She's a huge hockey nut and when she's not watcing games, she spends her time with her dog Zampella, a Chow-Shepherd mix and her cat, Spook. In early September '09, she and her husband Jeff, adopted a new dog:10-month-old Kelsie who's a black lab and full of enough energy for a litter. In June of '10 she found a 6-week-old abandon kitten behind the dumpster at the Lazer studios and of course the family continues to grow.

Sam is an ink junkie. One of Sam’s 25+ tattoos (and she’s not done yet) is her favorite quote by James Dean "Dream as if you’ll live forever. Live as if you’ll die today." Her favorite is a 9/11 tribute piece on her left leg. It even won an award at a Denver tattoo convention. She is currently working on a full back piece of lilies and tribal work with Lucky at EASTSIDE INK.

14 years in the making and absolutely amazing! Layne Stayley’s spirit is alive and well and very much present in “Black Gives Way to Blue.” Sean Kinney, Mike Inez, Jerry Cantrell have rekindled the passion that helped changed the face of music back in the early 90s and newbie William Duvall is doing a mighty fine job standing in some very big shoes.

I had the honor of seeing them perform a couple of years ago before there was ever a plan for a new record. I swear there were a few times I could stand there with my eyes closed and you’d have a hard time knowing Layne wasn’t on that stage. It’s going to be a long time before this one leaves my player.
