Metallica was formed in 1981 by drummer Lars Ulrich and singer/guitarist James Hetfield. Although the band has faced many challenges, tragedies and personnel changes, they continue to be one of the biggest rock bands in the world. All together the band has released 11 albums, with the much-anticipated number 12 due on September 12th, Death Magnetic, with a world tour to follow hitting Des Moines on October 26th.
