The Greater Des Moines Music Coalition (DMMC) announces the seventh annual Gross Domestic Product (GDP) will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Hotel Fort Des Moines.
The DMMC is accepting band submissions until Feb. 13. Please send submissions to gdp@desmoinesmc.com. Full details on how to submit to GDP, can be found at http://www.desmoinesmc.com. GDP continues to be the premiere local music showcase for Iowa bands. Since 2006, GDP has featured esteemed acts such as The Envy Corps, Poison Control Center, Dirty Little Rabbits, Radio Moscow, Christopher the Conquered, and Maxilla Blue to more than 1,000 fans. Music fans spanning all genres come together for one night of local music to celebrate all the talent, variety, and camaraderie of the Des Moines music scene.

2012 has kicked off with a bang for 3 Pill Morning. The band has spent the holiday break in Nashville working on some new music and are now getting ready to head back out on the road for the year ahead with several upcoming national tours. The excitement of their CD ‘Take Control’ and their current single/video ‘Loser’ continues to build and a second single and video are also slated for release in the coming months. If you’re in the South East and Midwest, you can expect to see 3 Pill Morning beginning the end of January in a city near you! More dates to come soon…

80/35 presented by U.S. Cellular announces the fifth annual music festival will take place on Friday and Saturday, July 6 and 7, 2012 at Western Gateway Park in downtown Des Moines. The music festival will feature more than 40 bands in a paid and free area, with music starting on Friday at 5 p.m. and Saturday at noon and going until midnight each day.
80/35 has drawn an estimated 30,000 attendees annually to see indie and jam bands like Girl Talk, of Montreal, The Flaming Lips, Ben Harper, The Roots, Public Enemy, Grace Potter, Broken Social Scene, Galactic, Black Francis, Yonder Mountain String Band, Andrew Bird, Man Man, Matisyahu, Titus Andronicus, and more.
Music festival organizers are encouraging fans to post their suggestions for the 80/35 lineup (local, support, headline, regional acts) on the official 80/35 Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/8035musicfestival. Bands can submit to play the festival by emailing 8035bands@desmoinesmc.com by April 1.
Applications for 80/35 press passes will be accepted in April.
